If you need to surrender your dog:

We might consider accepting your dog into our rescue provided they are current on their rabies vaccination and are spayed or neutered and they pass our temperament test. If your dog is not yet spayed/neutered or up to date on required vaccinations, we can still discuss intake; however, we would request a donation to help cover the cost of the necessary veterinary care.

Please email your dog’s current veterinary records, (including proof of spay or neuter) and we can discuss next steps.

When emailing please include your name and telephone number and a subject line that indicates your need.

If you would like to volunteer please fill out this form.

GSGSR is a rescue, not a shelter. Therefore, we do not have the ability to take in a stray dog. If you would like help with a stray German Shepherd, you need to contact your local Animal Control Officer (ACO), police department or shelter. GSGSR works with many shelters throughout New Jersey, if you know of a German Shepherd at a shelter, or would like advice on which shelter would be best to use, please reach out to us.

Adopters must be approved, via the GSGSR application process, prior to meeting our dogs.
