Patience is a Virtue

Please ask yourself a few questions prior to filling out our form. Do you have GSD or dog training experience particularly with herding dogs? Did you grow up in a family with large dogs; was the pack your way of life as a child? Is your extended family there to help out as well? Are you the type of person to commit and persevere through all forms of trials a forgotten dog might bring to you?

We temperament test our dogs and ask owners who surrender their dogs to fill out behavior forms. Some dogs come from shelters with little known about their pre-shelter lives, some dogs are gregarious, some are shut down to a point of being catatonic. Dogs vary from being fully obedience trained to being blank slates.

Your potential and willingness to help the dog means the world to saving them. There may be medical needs, we might ask that you transport to a DVM. For foster dogs: GSGSR supplies all necessities and pays for food and vetting. If you can assist in any way with supplies, to help your foster dog, we appreciate it. More donations equal more funding for another dog in need.

Please be patient; our team will review your application within a day or two of its arrival. Once a dog enters our program, we look through all applications for the family that matches the dog’s needs.

Please fill the form out, as completely as possible, as we cannot process incomplete applications. We require a non-refundable $10.00 processing donation with your application. 
 
Also: We are ONLY processing adoption applications in New Jersey or 30 minutes from a New Jersey border. If you live past that area, we can provide you with a list of other rescue organizations in your area. We are not adopting to Connecticut at this time.  We offer the ability to pay the fee by PayPal using a credit card or by check.  Paying by check can increase the time to process the application by up to two weeks.
