Winston before Winston after

This is Winston, one of our foster foster dogs back in 2004.

The photo on the left is how he looked when GSGSR volunteers met him - an eight year old stray at a local shelter. What a change after Winston spent a few weeks in a GSGSR foster home!  A short time after the photo on the right was taken, Winston was adopted into his forever home.

If you would like to help us help more dogs like Winston, please consider becoming a GSGSR volunteer.

We especially need Foster Home volunteers as they are the link between a dog's past and his future. Foster homes are individuals or families who open their hearts and their home to provide a safe and loving environment for these dogs until a permanent home can be found.

If you love dogs, fostering is one of the most satisfying and rewarding experiences you can have as it enables you to directly impact a homeless dog's life. If you are interested learning more about becoming a foster home for a GSGSR dog,  please see our Foster Volunteer FAQ page.

If you can't foster a dog, there are still many ways you can help. Can you spend a few hours once a month staffing a 'meet & greet' event or a fundraiser? Or a couple of hours on a weekend to make a home visit to a prospective adopter or to visit a shelter? A couple of hours in the evening to make reference calls? Do you like to bake or make crafts that we could sell at fund raising events?
