HAPPY NEW YEAR - GOSHE!

Goshe is our first adoption of 2009!

Goshe was found wandering The Great Swamp as a stray this past summer. When she first came to the St. Hubert's shelter she was very scared and shy and it was obvious that something was wrong with her. It soon became apparent when within a few days she gave birth to puppies.  It is hard to imagine that anyone would be cruel enough to dump a pregnant dog less than a week before she was due.

Three of the puppies survived but Goshe was not yet ready for adoption.  She was still shy and slowly learning to redevelop her trust through the hard work of the shelter volunteers.  Of course a bribe of a snack or a good scratch under her chin would get her to warm up quickly.   Unfortunately she did not get a lot of interest in the shelter as can often happen with all black German Shepherd dogs.  We met her in December and she easliy passed all of our temperament tests.

As soon as we had a foster home available we brought her into our program.  It was only two weeks later that she found her new home.  Off to a good start in '09.
