TANYA'S MERRY CHRISTMAS

Tanya's holiday season started off on a very sad note.  Her owners had contacted GSGSR prior to Thanksgiving asking us if we could find a home for their 9 year old German Shepherd dog.  Apparently, after having her since a puppy they realized that she shed too much.  Her owners told us that they had young children walking around on the floor and sometimes Tanya would also drag in dirt and poop after they let her outside.  Our first reaction was to suggest they buy a vacuum cleaner and actually take Tanya for a walk.  However, we asked them to fill out an owner referral application, in which one of Tanya's characteristics was that she slept a lot.  We were prepared to meet Tanya at the owner's home.

A few days later one of our previous adopters sent us an email saying they saw a lovely all black 9 year old German Shepherd at the shelter.  This nice soul sponsored the dog and asked if we could do anything to help.  As it turns out the dog was Tanya and her owner's did not even wait for us to try and find her a home.  But Tanya was going to get a nice Christmas present.  As fate would have it, we had just received an application from a couple we had helped out in the past.  They were retired and looking for a nice senior dog to be a companion to their other German Shepherd, a retired Seeing Eye dog.

We picked up Tanya from the shelter, prepared to bring her into our foster program if things did not work out.  Well Tanya found a home.  Her new owner's fell in love with her right away.  She is now living comfortably and has become best friends with the house cat as well.  A Very Merry and Happy Christmas for Tanya!
