GSGSR foster dogs are rescued from shelters and pounds in New Jersey where most were facing euthanasia. Dogs that pass our temperament evaluations are brought into the rescue as space permits. They are fully vetted, brought up to date on vaccinations and spayed or neutered. They live with our volunteers in a foster home so we can evaluate them before they are offered for adoption. This allows us time to get to know the shepherd so that we can make the best match with their new home.

Dogs in our Owner Referral program have also passed our temperament evaluations before they are accepted into our program. We require that they are up to date on vaccinations as well as heartworm preventative.

If you would like to help us help German Shepherds, we are always in need of additional volunteers. Foster homes are especially needed, but if you can't foster there are many other volunteer opportunities that require less time commitments. Please visit our Volunteer page for more information.

Donations are gratefully accepted.
The adoption fees that we collect help to defray our expenses for veterinary care but do not cover the amount spent on each dog. Our income is derived from adoption fees, donations and fund raising activities; all of which goes to care for the dogs.
